How long will a power station run an oxygen concentrator?

A home oxygen concentrator at 300 W uses about 7,200 Wh a day, so even the largest portable unit we cover, the EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3, runs it for about 12 hours. That is the honest number, and it means the plan for anyone on continuous oxygen has to include recharging or a second source, not just a bigger battery.

Runtimes by unit

UnitBatteryRuntime at 300 W
EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max2,048 Wh6 hours
Jackery HomePower 30003,072 Wh9 hours
Anker SOLIX F3800 Plus3,840 Wh11 hours
Goal Zero Yeti PRO 40003,994 Wh11 hours
EcoFlow DELTA Pro 34,096 Wh12 hours

Concentrators vary from about 120 W for a 2 L/min unit to 600 W for 10 L/min. Check the label on yours and use our runtime calculator.

What a realistic plan looks like

  1. A portable concentrator with batteries for the first hours. They draw 40 to 100 W and their own batteries last 2 to 8 hours.
  2. An expandable power station for the night. The EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3, Anker SOLIX F3800 Plus and Goal Zero Yeti PRO 4000 all accept add-on batteries, and the brands' "extra battery" packs roughly double runtime each.
  3. A way to recharge. 400 W of solar panels put back around 1,500 to 2,000 Wh on a sunny day, which is roughly 6 hours of concentrator use. A small inverter generator can recharge a power station in 2 to 3 hours and is quieter than running the concentrator from the generator directly.
  4. Tell your utility. Most US utilities keep a medical-needs registry that gets you priority restoration and advance warning of planned outages.

Common questions

Does the oxygen concentrator need a pure sine wave inverter?

Yes. All the units we list produce pure sine wave AC. Avoid cheap modified-sine-wave inverters, which can damage the compressor.

Can I run the concentrator and a CPAP together?

Yes. Add about 40 W for the CPAP, so 340 W total. On a 4 kWh unit that is roughly 10 hours instead of 12.
